Grok vs Claude vs ChatGPT vs Gemini vs Perplexity
We took a very simple approach – we asked all the top AI models today what they think the next Google will be. Below are the individual answers followed by a summary of the results and which AI wins in the end.

Which AI company or Model (Grok, Claude, Gemini, OpenAI..etc) will become the next Google, dominating the majority of search market share? Rank them for future potential with 1 sentence bullet points explaining your logic only, concise short answers.
OpenAI Response
OpenAI believes in itself and it has every right too. Interesting here is observation about “deep Bing integration” and “rapid development”. For those who are not aware, ChatGPT runs off the Bing index and with the recent acquisition of Microsoft this integration has only gotten more deeper. Success of OpenAI in this sense depends in part to the success of Bing & traditional indexing.
Gemini Response
Its quite fascinating to see the preference of the engine to itself in both cases of Gemini & ChatGPT. If anything, this is a great tell to end users about the fact that AI is not impartial or isolated from human interests. Gemini certainly believes it will be the future followed by OpenAI. Another interesting note is that #3 & #4 placements are the same in this case, Anthropic then Grok.
Claude Response
Claude truly is a charmer, isn’t…she? Not only did Claude place itself into #3 position, but it also was the first engine to mention Perplexity, and at #2, which is quite perplexing to us. However the interpretation here is that Claude doesn’t see itself as a search first model as its original focus was more development oriented. The big news however is that Gemini is still below Claude here at #4 (I mean…really?) and OpenAI takes another #1 position.
Grok Response
Grok wasn’t able to catch any breaks in this competition as most engines placed it right at the bottom. However Grok did come in to settle the #1 position decisively for OpenAI, boasting the 48% AI chatbot traffic market share. Gemini comes in at #2 which seems to be the general consensus among the AI LLMs. Another observation worth noting is that Grok didn’t miss the opportunity to rank itself into #3 position, adding a little bit of self-love into the equation.
Perplexity Response
The dark knight in all of this is Perplexity, an odd ball of sorts that has recently become important with the potential acquisition by Apple. Perplexity was not as charming as Claude, taking the opportunity to rank itself above its near peer, dropping Grok to last (they really hate Grok huh), and finally affirming the major consensus that OpenAI then Gemini are in the leading positions.
